About Teachertastic
Q: What is Teachertastic?
A: Teachertastic is a science tutoring service designed to help students build confidence, master tricky topics, and achieve top grades.
Q: Who do you teach?
A: Students from KS3 through GCSE, specialising in science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) – including Combined Science and Triple Science. Also, A-level Biology students.
Q: Do you offer online or in-person tutoring?
A: Online sessions as they are interactive, flexible and available to anyone.
Lessons & Content
Q: How are lessons structured?
A: Lessons are tailored to each student, mixing content review, active recall, and exam practice. We use past paper questions, quizzes, and problem-solving exercises to build skills and confidence.
Q: Do you provide homework or extra practice?
A: Yes! Students are given optional practice questions and revision tasks to reinforce what they’ve learned between lessons.
Q: Do you follow a specific exam board?
A: Yes – we cover AQA, Edexcel, and OCR, making sure all content matches the student’s specification.
Booking & Pricing
Q: How do I book a lesson?
A: You can contact us via our website’s booking form or email us directly. We’ll arrange a free initial consultation to discuss your child’s needs.
Q: How much do lessons cost?
A: Prices vary depending on lesson length (typically 60 or 90 minutes). Please see our Pricing page for full details.
Q: Can I book a block of lessons?
A: Absolutely! Many families choose weekly sessions. Block bookings can be more cost-effective and guarantee your preferred time slot.
Weekly Online Groups
Q: What are the weekly online group sessions?
A: Our weekly online groups are small, interactive science lessons where students revise key topics together, practise exam questions, and boost their confidence – all from the comfort of home.
Q: How many students are in a group?
A: We keep groups small (maximum of 6 students) so everyone gets the best quality service.
Q: Who are the group sessions for?
A: They’re perfect for KS3, GCSE and A-level students who want regular support, motivation, and a chance to learn with others preparing for the same exams. It is the same great tuition with all the same perks as 1:1 sessions but for a fraction of the price.
Q: What do you cover each week?
A: Each session focuses on a specific topic from the exam board specification – for example, “Cells and Microscopy” or “Forces and Motion.” We include teaching, practice questions, and tips for answering like an examiner.
Q: Do students get resources after the lesson?
A: Yes! Each week we share the PowerPoints, practice questions, and solutions so students can keep revising between sessions. Also, a video of the content so students can use it for their revision or catch up if they have missed a session.
Q: How do I join a group?
A: Simply contact us via the website, and we’ll match you with the right group for your level and exam board.
Q: What if my child misses a session?
A: Don’t worry – we provide all the resources on the Google Classroom as well as a recording of the content so they can catch up.
Q: Is it as effective as 1:1 tutoring?
A: Group sessions are a great, affordable way to build confidence and cover lots of content quickly. For students who need extra personalised help, we can combine group sessions with occasional 1:1 lessons.
Progress & Results
Q: How do you track progress?
A: We regularly assess understanding through quizzes and mini-tests, giving students and parents feedback on strengths and areas to improve. Also, from past paper questions and whole past papers. You and your child will be provided with regular feedback and ways to improve further.
Q: Will my child’s grades improve?
A: While results depend on individual effort and consistency, our students typically see noticeable improvement in confidence and exam performance.
Practical Questions
Q: What do students need to bring to lessons?
A: Just a notebook, pen, and a positive attitude! If online, they’ll need a computer or tablet and a quiet space to focus.
Q: What if we need to cancel or reschedule?
A: We understand life happens! We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.
Q: Do you teach other subjects?
A: At the moment we specialise in science, but we can recommend excellent tutors for maths, English, and other subjects.
